In collaboration with the African Nursing Students Association (ANSA) of Lehman College and the Parish of St. Luke’s Episcopal Anglican Church in the Bronx, Pantry and Feeding services were organized in the Summer of 2017 to provide free hot lunch and pantry services for many residents in the catchment area of the church. Over 400 people benefited from the program that ran throughout the season and continues even to date. Participants get to sit down for a hot meal from Monday to Saturday and on every first and second Wednesday of the month, they take home with them some food stuff including fresh vegetables and canned food. Food is prepared fresh in the kitchen of the church and served hot to seated participants. For most of the participants, this was their only hot meal throughout the week. Participants had the opportunity to socialize and receive vital education on their health and social needs. The Program continued throughout the covid pandemic period and has been sustained to date with the assistance of the New York City Food Bank. Currently, pantry services are held every first and second Wednesday of the month from 9 am to 11am. The first Wednesday is for registered clients whose first names begin with the letter A to M, and the second Wednesday for those with first names beginning with N to Z.
